I'm this many..

We celebrated Jaxon's 1st birthday with family & friends at Lake Benson Park in Garner. I'm sure he had no idea what all the fuss was about, but it was a great time! I had camera issues (all fixed now) so I had to gather pictures from others. That's why I'm just now getting around to posting. All the ones here are courtesy of my aunt & uncle.

Happy Birthday to me!

I love Chuck E Cheese (and apparently Bob the Builder as well)! Mama and Daddy took me there today to celebrate my birthday and I didn't know what to look at first. After we got our tokens & ordered pizza, they let me play in the 'toddler zone' where I started off with the Bob the Builder ride. I was still a little groggy from the nap I took in the car so it took a few minutes to realize how cool it was. After a few bites of food (Daddy let me try some of the cheese from his pizza too), I was ready to get back to the games. I played on the slide, rode a few other rides, played Toddler Whac (thats whac-a-mole with ABCs - not whacking toddlers!), got on a giant rocking horse, and played some of the big kid games with Mama & Daddy. Of course, they had to weasel in on the fun & used some of my tokens to play a football toss game & skeeball (Mama was better at skeeball & Daddy broke the record on the football toss). Whenever given the chance, I walked back to Bob the Builder & tried to climb up into it myself. On the way out, I got a small ball & bat with our tickets.
Mama did drag me & Dad through Babies R Us since it's in the same shopping center, but I had my new bat to play with. Later in the afternoon we went to the credit union to open a savings account with my birthday money. They gave me a tshirt, some stickers & a growth chart with my account register. And even took my picture for my own ID card. We had Moes for dinner & Coldstone for dessert (I begged for ice cream & made Mama nervous as I walked around in circles on the concrete patio outside the ice cream shop). And I even got to stay up past my bedtime! I love being one!

Family weekend

Jaxon finally got to meet his third set of great-grandparents this weekend. Buschie & PopPop (Jack's grandparents) came down from Baltimore to see him. They arrived on Thursday but we didn't get into Raleigh until Friday. We spent the whole day over at Jack's parents place. Brinn & Gabi brought their dog, Skye, who had the cutest (though somewhat goofy) new collar. It was pink with little ribbon roses all over it.

Jaxon & Jack stayed there while I went over to Aunt Joy's for Jerry & Shannon's joint birthday party. All the 'kids' spent the whole evening telling silly jokes. It all started after dinner when we were reading the goofy ones off the Laffy Taffy wrappers. Gotta love gems like: When does it rain money? When theres change in the weather! The best was that Sophie started making up her own (maybe she thought we were making them up?). My favorite Sophie joke: Why did the turtle exercise? To get stronger! LOL!

We invited everyone over to our house on Saturday for a big spaghetti dinner. Jack cooked a HUGE pot (think gallons) of sauce from scratch. It had meatballs, pepperoni, & sausage and was the best he's made yet! We gave his parents a huge tupperware-full, sent some back to MD for his cousin & still had tons left to freeze. All weekend we played cards (15 card rummy) and enjoyed visiting. Of course Jaxon was nearly always in someones arms, but thats okay, he didn't mind.
